Browsing through my archive I have to conclude that, concerning my personal artwork, 2004 wasn't a very productive year. I worked a lot and did not really have enough time to start bigger personal projects. The only elaborate painting of that year was a fan artwork for the gallery section of the German independent comic 'Versus'. For that painting I worked in a very clean style and I also experimented with a combination of 3D rendering and 2D painting. The buildings in the background are rendered in Maya and retouched in Photoshop.
The rest of the year I contributed to the online communities with more or less inspired speedpaintings. I also did some more technical experiments to explore the possibilities of painterly effects in Photoshop.
Pirates were a popular theme in 2004...
... and Jedi, too!
